Is anyone familiar with La Mision restaurant in Coz? This is not the one downtown on the side street, but somewhere off the beaten path. I have heard that it has very good food and interesting atmosphere.

???:D

It's fabulous! It's on the same street as the supermarket San Francisco - can't remember it now but someone will.

Love the tacos - don't forget the little salsa bar thingie they have there, too. My favourite is the green bean one....scrummo!

They have a more lavish restaurant - Casa Mission. It's where we just had our wedding reception. Food is great, service is wonderful and the setting is amazing.

The Mission is on 30th between Calle 2 and 4 on the west side of the street. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The lunch menu is different from the dinner menu. The Mexican plate is great as are the fajitas. They have the side bar with a variety of salads, hot side dishes. The margaritas are killer!

I´ve only been there for dinner but the food was great! I have to say that I liked that it was set a bit back from the street and more relaxed and calmer than you´d find in the town center...
They also have live music in the evening...

Still my favorite place to eat in Coz. There was so much confusion with cabbies taking people to the wrong one of maybe three places with very similar names, they changed their name a little late in 2005 or early 2006. Ask for Parrilla Mission. Av. 30 between Calle 2 and Calle 4

I took this picture specifically to help make sure I could always remember it..

I think what you may be hearing about is the Casa Mission, as Alcina posted. It's located on 55 and is an old-style Hacidena style house where you actually eat on their veranda.

I like to take my divers there because of the gardens, the parrots in cages and the general old world ambience, plus, you can't beat a dessert that involves fire!!

with the caged animals?

The Snapper is good, and they serve him in the swimming position.

Oh yes! one of our fav's and to the top of the "must do" list!

Actually I think that Alcina posted about two "Mission" restaurants...?

* Looking at my somewhat out of date map (need to see if www.cancunmap.com has an update - great maps) I see 4 groceries - 1 on the north edge of town waterfront nowhere close to the discussion, 2 on 30 Ave near now called Parillo Mission pictured above, and Chedraui also not close to the places in discussion, so I think she first referenced the one on 30 Ave.

** And she posted on Casa Mission, aka Hacienda Mission, near the hospital on 55th. This is the one with caged animals.

And there is the La Mission on the waterfront that the cabbies may try to take you to as it's faster for them.

There has long been confusion about the 3 Mission restaurants, but now they have 3 differnet names: La Mission, Parillo Mission, and Casa/Hacienda Mission.

What time is it in Australia? Maybe Alcina will come clear this up soon...?

Edit: The new map should be out by the end of the month...

I was at the Mission on 55 last week. The caged animals are a thing of the past, with the exception of the parrots. I'm hoping that it's because they succumbed to the pressure that the Humane Society here placed on them.
