It still has one day to go, but since I cant be there for it I just wanted to give props to the Grand Traverse Underwater Preserve for the Underwater Summit they put on this weekend. The dinner on Fri night was first rate. Featured speaker Richard Marx was a hoot! I swear I thought about dropping everything and begging to work for him because it sounded so cool. John Chatterton of Deep Sea Detective fame was there and seemed very nice. (I didn't talk to him personally, couldnt get up the nerve. ) Today I went to two of the four seminars and both were quite good. One was on underwater crime scene investigation (I should try the search techniques off the end of my dock, it's murky enough most of the time) and the other was an intro to tech diving which gave me plenty to think about for future dive possibilities. I really wish I could be there for the underwater archaeology seminar tomorrow, but I got a good taste of what might be there at the dinner on Fri when Dr. Mark Holley was displaying pictures of what could be a very significant find at the bottom of GT bay. Just a great weekend all around!
