Hi all. Happy New Year! Hope it's going well for everyone so far.
I am vacationing on the Big Island from Jan.14 - Feb.01 and have no partner for freedive excursions. If anyone doesn't mind being a bit of a guide, but more just needs a dive partner now and again for those two weeks, I could really use the friend. My wife snorkels a bit, but our little boy needs someone to watch him all the time, so she won't get in the water too much at the same time as myself, plus she doesn't really venture below the surface much anyways. I have quite a few shoredive spots in mind, but certainly don't know which ones are best for freediving. Either way, happy New Year. A good diving season to everyone!

The freedivers here tend not to be involved in scuba and wouldn't read these boards. Kona has a pretty big freediving community. Several current/recent (records change quickly) and former record holders live here and it's the only place I've seen that has a dedicated freediving store...Bluewater Hunter. You could look them up on the web, not sure if that'd help any but that's a start.

Well, that'd explain it.
Thanks for the reply, and I do plan to hit up the folks at Bluewater for some action.
Cheers

have you checked www.DeeperBlue.net ? Many of the local free diving groups log in from time to time. Also, for some reason many of the local free divers work for the zodiac boat tour businesses here in Kona. No harm in contacting "Capt. Zodiac". That being said you might want to look into a tour with them since they go to the Capt Cook monument in K Bay for a snorkle and free diving paradise. That way the whole family can play. I think they are www.captainzodiac.com. There is another company in Keauhou Bay but I don't recall the name.
For the record I do not work for any zodiac affiliated company blah blah blah.
