We have decided on Ko Samui for our honeymoon Next month Febuary, 2007. We are experienced divers, advanced and Nitrox certified. We are looking for a couple days of diving with varying experiences. We have all our own equipment. We have not decided on a place to stay or have no idears of the diving in the area can someone help us out and recomend a shop to go diving with. Or the shops to avoid. Also what is the diving there like?

Hi p-Geek.

Most/all operators on Samui have trips to Sail Rock (which I personally think to be the best site in the Gulf), Marine Park and Koh Tao by either speedboat or Seatran ferry (you dive off the ferrry, a big boat or transfer to local boats on KT).

Some companies own their boats, Samui International Diving School and Easy Divers own their won big boats and some operators own their own speedboats like Captain Caveman. Other operators use/rent spaces on these boats.

Have a look at this website for Samui based diving http://www.planet-scuba.net

Please free to PM me.

Hi Limbo.. how's the weather down there? Hope the freak rains/flooding have improved...

sometimes its nice to use a smaller operator one that will cater for your needs better (it is your honeymoon after all)

just make sure you get to Sails rock and chmphon pinnacle (preferably when the big boats have left as you will see much much more)

Traminer,

Weather is a bit up and down at the moment, sunny but very windy.

Next week the wind should ease down again.

Was last week at Sail Rock and it was like swimming/diving in fish soup. Loads of trevally in massive groups, at 27 meters a big school of big barracuda's, fish in various sizes all over the place, very very nice.
One side of the rock was great, the other side very low viz though.
