I'm having an issue with my knee I can't quite sort out and I was wondering if anyone has had anything similar. I have had a torn meniscus in my right knee but it healed without surgery, and I have dove many times since. I was in our pool just testing equipment wearing some avanti quattro fins. After just a minute my leg started to feel cramps. I got out of the pool and my knee was extremely painful, it was all I could do to hop around. I put ice on it and the next morning it was totally fine.
I gave it 6 weeks or so and tried snorkeling using some scuba pro jet fins, I was thinking the shorter fin might put less stress on the joint. I felt it starting up so stopped earlier but same problem. While I do have some occasional knee twinges, I'm fine the rest of the time.
Just curious if anyone else had experienced this or had any advice

Along the lines of what @LI-er said, the meniscus may have settled itself back into place but there are certain motions that can aggravate the condition and cause pain. You were probably making one of them. I'd recommend you contact the orthopedist who was following you for this and follow up. A good PT might also be able to make some suggestions.

Best regards,
DDM

That makes sense, what's throwing me is I was able to dive after it healed with no problems, this just came up out of the blue.

That can happen. What was the mechanism of injury for the tear initially?

use knee brace

Was never really sure. seemed like it just started hurting one day
MRI says
There is a radial tear of the medial meniscus at the junction of the anterior and middle thirds. The
parameniscal tissues in this region demonstrate mild reactive edema-like signal but no discrete parameniscal cyst. The
posterior meniscal root is intact. The lateral meniscus is unremarkable
