Maybe I'll ask Cobalt Coast for a 2-for-1 special on that dive, for four divers. That would be worth it.

Otherwise, I think maybe we'll skip it until it becomes less of a crowd draw in future years... and a bit less, as billinwilliamston points out, intact...

If you do the Kittiwake from shore you don't have to worry about comparing operators & all that stuff.
It is, however, a bit of a kick out there, not to mention, the need to watch for boat traffic. There are currently 7 moorings in place on and around the wreck site. That can translate into a bunch of comings and goings at times. Also don't expect to be well received by those divers following procedure, and purchasing the appropriate tag, to dive the park.
When your comparing dive operators, be sure to question the amount of time allowed for the dive, and the size tanks they use.

I'm heading down next week and have also been quite baffled by the info on this wreck. With 4 people perhaps you could set up with a smaller outfit "seasports - indigo" that does 6-8 divers and ask for the Kittiwake as the shallow dive in the morning 2 tank dive. Of course thay will talk about weather and accomidating divers yada yada. As I am going solo I will once again be at the mercy of the "groups" diving goals.....

The issue at hand is, the need for the operators to charge more for this dive ,and there are many divers that prefer just to do the customary two tank morning dive.

Reasons, for the extra cost include , the park requires that you have a tag to dive or snorkel it, The charge for the dive tag is $10.US for one visit. They are trying to recoup some of the monies spent in purchasing the boat, readying it for sinking, transportation from Virginia to GCayman, moorings, insurance etc.

I understand the cost of the tag, and have no problem with it.

The problem is that $100 per person is a lot more incrementally than just the cost of the tag.

We just dove it last week and I really enjoyed it. We paid $90 pp with Ocean Frontiers because we dove with them all week but all in all I thought it was worth it for the experience. My favorite thing about it was that the mirrors are still intact and you can see yourself which is a pretty unique experience. I wouldn't pay to do it over and over but it was actually my girlfriend's favorite dive of the week. Just my $0.02.

I am interested in how long the mirrors will still be mirrors.
I took this picture at the beginning of February. Have they changed much since then?

They actually haven't changed all that much since then. I would actually say they maybe have not changed at all from your picture. I have one that I will try and post soon.
