People have various levels of seriousness about their diving. I am curious how people feel about boat charters with little kids and dogs. Does it add to your experience? Do you enjoy meeting the captain"s sidekick?...Or would you rather they not be there?

....Oh, and we might as well throw in people who act like kids too. I am developing a theory about this, help me decide if I am correct.

Hey, Chum, welcome aboard.

So, Alcina, you mean you wouldn't like that little guy riding your tank????

Well I gues we can't dive together, cause I AM a big KID! :babycrawl

Seriously, I guess it depends upon the situation. If the Dive Captain is bringing his kids onboard, they best be well behaved, and helpful. If they are in the way they do not belong on the boat. I pay good $$ to dive, and I'm not into babysitting.

If the kids are there to snorkle, and that is made clear that this is a combined snorkeling/dive trip, that is fine as well.

I guess what I'm saying is that as long as the kids are not impacting the other guests other than they add to the number of people... no problem. If the kids are taking undue attention away from the crew, or impacting the enjoyment of the divers, then that is a real problem. Granted I have kids, and IMO having kids along on a dive COULD be exciting, but I do understand that some adults want the adult atmosphere, and are NOT interested in kids around.

Dogs? Hmm, I love animals, and dogs are welcome on any boat I'm on as LONG as they are... well kinda like well behaved kids.. :05:

We had kids onboard our boat at the Brac before, they were 8,10 and 12 (girls). They were with their mom and dad and we were doing a two tank at Little Cayman. The parents spent one of the dives snorkeling and then the 12 year old stayed on board to watch the other two while the parents did a dive together. I actually enjoyed watching that family interacting together. Of course they were very well behaved, quiet and conditions were calm.

If you were to charter the whole boat yourselves then I see no problem.

If your kids are of the antagonizing kind, please don't let those other divers who paid a fair share to dive become aggrivated, they might pull a Jonah on them-you or your gear.

What happens when that dog has to go to the bathroom? If he decides to jump in, who'll save him from the barracuda or sharks?:D

as long as it isn't my daughter or kids who act like her (ATTITUDE) then I don't mind. As for dogs- I didn't mind Simba because it is a big boat, but on Joe's boat I don't think there is room. Also, I am allergic to dogs so as long as they stay away and don't trigger the allergies or the migraines then I don't mind them either.

In memory of Simba....... scuba hound extraordinaire
