Thanks for all the feedback. Any suggestions for a dive operator to go with?

I like the Lois Ann dive boat or the Waterhorse charter.

I recommend the Horizon boat down in San Diego. Nitrox and very spacious. Also has satellite phone and email...if you're one of those types that must remain contact with the world while diving.

Thanks-- Dive boats are one of the few places I enjoy being disconnected.

So do I, but apparently there are people who simply couldn't get away from it all. So for those people, the Horizon has links back to civilization for them.

The Horizon is a good size boat, 80-something feet long, 30-something feet wide. Lots of room to move around, several good size heads, a separate shower that isn't inside a head, new construction. Food is decent but not spectacular. I'd say average for dive boats.

I didn't do a lot of dives in the San Diego area, and the few times I went down there it was primarily for the Coronados and the Horizon makes lots of runs to the Coronados. I went to the Wreck Alley with the Lois Ann and I liked that boat too.

Usually I'd take a boat from Long Beach/San Pedro area to go down to San Diego and dive at San Clemente Island. Nothing against San Diego boats, it's just that I know and have great rapport with several boats in the Long Beach/LA/Ventura/Oxnard areas and I prefer to use those boats.

Second on the Horizon. We did a three night trip with them last July and are going back this July. On our trip Mark was the cook and we had awesome grub! Specifically remember the Tri-Tip MMMM. I noticed on their site that they are doing a lot of one and two day trips.
