I've been reading a lot about kayak diving, so much so that I've gone out and bought a sit-on-top-kayak. It seems like a great way to combine beach and boat diving, in having the freedom to go when you want, plus the ability to get to dive sites not easily accessible with shore swims. At this point, I’m kind of on my own, cause I don’t know where the sites are. Anybody out there doing this now? If so, are you using GPS to find sites?

Try a search on "kayak diving" and you'll get all sorts of information, equipment, techniques, etc.

looks like too much work
id rather motor out in a powerboat

The Kayak is very sweet for hugging the shoreline in Cape Cod Bay, and you can launch virtually anywhere. What type did you get?

How about a kayak dive on Sunday (5/7) at Cape Ann? Anybody?

That's possible for me though I have tentative plans with someone for a shore dive tomorrow.

Would you be going wet or dry? I've only gone wet and have been waiting for a little warmer temps. Maybe I could try a quick oen today in my drysuit and see how it goes

I am definitely psyched up to get out there though.

OSS out of Jamestown also specializes in Kayak diving has fun trips every week and provide a local orientation to kayak diving. Ide look them up because they know some good areas.

Cape Ann will be good for you being from Boston. I'm in the Portsmouth area and there's definitely tons of potential up here, for example Pepperell cove and Garish island area. So far I've only dived from kayak in a small cove in York close to the Nubble. On my list is york Me area, portsmouth, Cape Anne and higher up Kettle Cove/ Richmand isle looks good. Isle of Shoals too on a flat day depending on your paddling skills. Unless possibilities. Am also trying to get scoops from local fisherman, combining the diving with fishing for stripers

I like Jim Spear's site: http://www.kayakdiver.com/kayakdiving/topics.htm
