ChrisA:
Like for example the Sony HC1000 is great but I've yet to find a housing that allows setting the HC1000's white balance.

Check with Amphibico. Their website lists a new housing with access to white balance. Not sure how they do it though.

I emaiiled Amphibico and ask about the Sony HC1000 housing (the VHIS1000)
and about the White Balance and got the following responce;

There is considerable interest in how White Balance is obtain with this housing.
Would you respond with a reply that can be posted on "scubaboard.com" as to how
this is accomplished, IE; changing modes or setting White Balance with the push
of a button or how.

Thanks

Hi TRIG,

Thanks for your email.
It's through the Lanc.

Hi Juliana,

Thanks for your reply.
A little more info please. When you adjust the White Balance through the LANC, does it
change modes, like, indoor to outdoor or cloudy or does it set the White Balance, like,
pointing it at something white , like, a card or slate?

Hello Ted,

The white balance doesn't change modes ( indoor, outdoor, cloudy, etc). It sets as you mentioned, pointing at something white.
Best regards,

Juliana

This is done with a thumb push of a button on the right hand grip. ( NEAT! )
