Just took SDI Solo Course

markmud, your point is excellent. Were I you, I would do just what you intend - get a card that specifically says solo so you don't have to fight the uphill battle of educating the universe (apparently even some PADI instructors) that the self-reliant card is equivalent (if indeed it is, as I believe).

btw, I think the agencies who put the word solo on their cards are: SDI, PDIC, and ANDI.

The class & books is not expensive and is well worth the time & minimal expense. I did the solo course with Matt on Robert's boat & would not hesitate to recommend him.

I reached out to Matt but other then an initial response I never heard back from him. In the end I did the class with Robert. I feel comfortable with where I'm at and going solo diving now and then.
