Hello all,
I have been interested in learning to SCUBA dive for some time now, and I am looking for your recommendations on a good comprehensive book to buy that would be useful to a complete beginner.
I am going to take lessons eventually, however, I want to do as much self study as I can ahead of time.

This book looks good to me, but I would appreciate the advice.

NOAA Diving Manual: Diving for Science and Technology

Thanks!

Maran

Hope you find all the answers you are looking for.
This board is a great place for all kinds of info!

i was in the same shoes as you, being a beginner i am too anxious to absorb all that i can out there.

The fact is the PADI book (given when u sign up for a class) is far more adequate for a beginner to absorb.

I would not further confuse & complicate my self in this first stage.

Now afterwards is a totally different manner. I plan to get few good books and also subscription to few good magaxines to expalnd the knowledge.

Stay with the PADI book for now

I've been certified for about 2 months now and I still read the PADI book or refer to it when I can't recall something.

Grrrrrrrrrr, I want to go diving! :upset:
