Just signed on today and will be interested to know the kind of info that is posted in this forum. I'm an entrepreneur with a bunch of ideas for diving and have even made a few working prototypes, but don't know how to get them into the industry without spending a lot of money on patents. The manufacturers aren't easy to talk to, I've tried. Anyone have an idea?

OK, here's a cheap way of patenting an idea. Basically, a patent is a way to registar an idea and assume the i-cap from it. What you can do is make a copy of your blueprint, plan and notes and bring it to a notary. Once they are stamped, you send the package registered mail to yourself and leave it sealed. This way is not bulletproof in prove it was your idea first, but it is efficient. Once you've completed this step, send a kit with your idea in it to the companies where your product might fit best. Also, there are tradeshows that have 'open to the public' days, there are alsway industry reps there. Like Dive-aholic said, in order to make money, you have to spend money - just as long as there is a healthy profit margin
