Welcome to Maine. If you ever get up to the Bar Harbor area let me know. We have a local scuba club and we try to do a dive charter on Sunday mornings every week. We go out on the Starfish Enterprise run by http://divered.com. Our club is the http://www.underwatersuperhero.com and shows some of our favorite dive sites.
Spectrum on this board has a great site too with Maine dive sites. SCUBA Knowtes, Southern Maine Shore Dive Site Guide Check it out!

Do a search "portland maine dive sites" for a lot of good info.

As poe67 mentioned we do have a guide to local shore dives in the region. A number of them are right in your backyard, Cape Elizabeth.
Our local dive club is the Maine-iac Divers. We meet monthly on the 2nd Thursday and are diving frequently. Be sure sign on to the Yahoo Group on the page, top right corner. That is where we do most of the dive planning. Set your preference for Individual E-Mails for real time information.
There is plenty of diving going on, weekends, weeknights and even weekdays for those with flexible schedules or enjoying time off.
Keep that gear damp!
