Hi everybody,

My screenname is webbedfoot (great for swimming/diving, by the way) and I just recently joined in with you all because somebody recommended the site. I have to say that it certainly seems to be active with interesting and enthusiastic divers.

Way back in the stone ages, like 1971, I was certified in California's Orange County as a NAUI SCUBA diver. Back in those days it was very much like attending boot camp-very physically demanding and very intense in it's approach. Single hose regs were new on the scene and a BC was nothing more than a big orange horse collar with a
Co2 cartridge hooked to a rip cord that you were supposed to pull to inflate the vest that would, in-turn, bail you out if you had trouble!

Although it taxed my income level and dive buddies were hard to come by, I did dive some back then, but as a young guy other things just seemed to take the spotlight and diving eventually became a fond memory. But alas, a little more than two years ago my wife and son expressed an interest in diving. Talk about exciting! The new gear is awesome, reliable, and dare I say it, stylish. The PADI method was so user friendly, and the military attitude (and dive tables) were history. This sport has found it's way back to me, and I back to it.

To make a long story still long, I've since done Advanced, Rescue, Divemaster, have Interned with an Instructor and currently have reservations to do a PADI IDC this November. Me, an Instructor? Webbedfoot is back, baby!

By the way- This time I plan to keep diving till I have to wear grampers in my wetsuit.

Till then,
webbedfoot

Welcome back ..... You need to read my profile and see what I said ... I had to laugh! Yes the diving world has changed from harrassment in the old days ... to not saying anything about getting dead if you screw up to what it is now ... At least they are alot safer ... no 60ft for 60 minutes anymore ... a safety stop at 15ft every dive ... not going up faster than 30 ft in 60 seconds, when above 60ft ... nitrox ... computers which is way cool!

Tech diving ... before it was you had a friend that dove doubles and dove deep and you asked him to help you and / or he dove wrecks are caves are both and told you, that you needed a line so you can find your way out if the vis gets bad!

It's a new world out there! A better one!
