on our last trip to Bonaire I developed a bit of a hate for a few dives. They all were afternoon boat dives. With a certain dive group. Different sites each time. Same cluster divers. Okay, I really had the hate for the divers and not the sites. I love every bonaire dive site I have been to.

We did a mixture of boat and shore diving on Bonaire for years until we came to a similar realization in 2003. Since then we've stuck exclusively to shore diving on our own and have no regrets about not getting on the dive boats. I'm a big fan on Bonairean boat diving though... it takes diver pressure off of my favorite shore diving sites!

I just got in and I am now at the Caribbean Club, room 215... One bedroom with small fridge, but a decent kitchen... Ready to start checking out all the bad dive sites tomorrow!

Dive shop and bar are within 10 steps of my room... I'm already liking it!

Keep us posted on how bad it is.

Richard.

I'm not sure if you want to hear about it... Average 20-30 mph winds out of the east all week. It made entries pretty murky. I never face planted, but friends did... even at Pink Beach...

Stuff happens. While entries are usually easy, one trip a friend & I were doing Alice in Wonderland, I think it was, and surge had things so stirred up we lost each other & turned back. For our 2nd attempt (which was successful), we set our compassed before going in, and when the surge turned us around a bit, we could reorient and keep heading out. Not the typical Bonaire dive.

How many dives did you guys get in? Did the weather cost you some dives, or just add some hassle?

Richard.

Understood on that..

Interesting story there... We own a timeshare at Buddy Dive (Top floor over looking the ocean). She wanted a "girls vacation", but I needed a vacation too... We were all on the island together (I was at Caribbean Club). I was solo diving until Wednesday when they decided that a "chick" flick didn't suffice and we all dove together after that.

Weather, no need to go anywhere other than my room for food (in the beginning), and a desire to see more land than I ever did on previous trips... 9 dives for the week (I did 68 in 2010 during a two week stay... which blew out my knee), and this trip was one hell of a work-recovered-from program...

Finally found my way around the oil plant and discovered Nucove Beach. It was worth the drive, and definitely worth the knee scars exiting the dive...
