If this occurs on the plane en route to your destination, ask the offender: "how much did you pay for your airfare?" What ever they say, cut the price in 1/2 and state I paid xx. Flight attendant taught me the last trick.

I don't know. This seems like a chance for them to open a conversation about where you get great deals on airfare!

I know I was the one suggesting the vomit sprinkler and not calling in a death, but really, there is no need to be a d##k. This guy worked hard to havespecial vacation and probably deserves it too. I would hate to think that anyone would be a jerk because their predive zen moment was interrupted. There are plenty of ways to get away from the overly chatty, not all of them involve the vomit sprinkler or a hard shove....

I have been on many boat dives with the talkers.

All you have to do is put up your stop sign hand and say
Sorry, I have to go. that is all it takes.

They won't bother you again.

We invited a couple two years ago to dive in COZ..at the last minute, the wife had to back out. The hubby came and was a massive high maintenance guy in and out of the water....I lived with it for the week, but he'll never again travel with us....my wife said I was extra special to his special needs :)

His wife just happened to back out at the last minute ? SHE's the one who needed (and cleverly got) the week off !

I recently did my 5th trip on the Aquacat. Because of my previous experiences on the boat, the LDS that organized the trip asked me if I would put together a brief "Trip Tips" since many of the people had never been on any LOB, and the was one couple who were known to be "problem children" on previous trips. I was able to pre-emptively address this issue in the Trip Tips by saying:

"As far as Live Aboards go, the Aquacat is one of the larger ones, however, you will be on a boat with
about 20 other people, all of whom are on vacation plus the boat’s crew. Nobody wants to hear someone
complain constantly. Try to keep a positive outlook. That is not to say that if you have a legitimate
problem, you should suffer in silence, of course not. Just be aware that personal space is at a premium
and we are all there to have a good time."
