That would be the hardest thing for me to do too. That and keeping my mouth shut.

Ty Denise. Believe me...this is the hardest stuff I have ever done! The skin diving tests are brutal! I still haven't passed those yet. I am having a hard time holding my breath long enough. It's just mind over matter...I will do it eventually!

I thought, while diving, you're never supposed to hold your breath...

Some of the DM tests are skin diving situations. So, on the first one, you must go down to the bottom with snorkel, mask, fins, and weightbelt. You then take off mask,fins, snorkel and leave on the bottom. You then go back down and put them all back on and return to the surface. Another test is to go in with tank off and all your gear in hand. You must then turn on tank and start to put all your gear on. Depending on how things pan out, it can take a bit before you get air from your reg. I can only hold my breath for 30 seconds. So I am still working on a few of these tasks.

Who are you doing your DM course with? Because the "gearing up underwater" isn't a PADI requirement. Just curious as to whose course has that.

That sounds merciless. I don't think I would ever pass that. I like breathing too much.

There doesn't seem to be much diving going on. I know there is alot of cave training/diving going on. Is everyone leaving the Gulf and heading to the caves?

Its NAUI. Their standards and requirements are much more difficult. I made it through the Master Diver course, the book work is really intense. I take my test Friday. The DM course bookwork is easier, but the physical demands is much harder. The same can be said for their rescue course. I am just waiting to finish the water part of that course. I will have to rescue a diver at the bottom of a mucky lake with nothing but my skin diving gear... mask, snorkel, fins. That is just one of many more swim skills to look forward to. I can't wait to do the 400M swim test no mask, fins, or wetsuit for my DM course :shocked2:. I think I have to complete that in 19 minutes. It's rigorous, but will definitely make you a better diver.

I am heading down this weekend to Devil's Den and Blue Grotto with a huge OW and AOW class. It's part of my DM training to work with students and with that many, it helps to have extra eyes. So I will be the Scuba Guardian Angel this weekend!
