I was just planning a Destin trip. Might have to wait until the weather settles....

St Andrews might be a little different. It's district headquarters for the park system, so all the top guys are there. I'll have to get special permission to do this there.

Henderson is likely a no go. The manager there told me that this wasn't allowed in state parks. It isn't a hard fast rule, seems that it's left to the discretion of the park manager. On top of that, it's right at the end of the runway for the Destin airport. It might not be good to be flying my planes at what amounts to the on/off ramp to an aerial highway.

with the name of your "production company" being Monkey Weasel Productions, that could be interesting with the phrase of "but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines...."

I doubt the manager could find any hard fast state rule against that, or even one that is a written local park rule, but since it could cause you trouble, I understand. Otherwise I'd just do it...

while we're on the topic of "requests"

I am planning a fall foliage trip to N GA and need recommendations for places to go see scenery.

Dahlonaga, GA. Go to Amicalola Falls State Park or anywhere around there.
Amicalola Falls State Park, a Georgia State Park near Dahlonega, Juno

If you plan to stay (Lodge) or camp there, I reccomend you do your reservations NOW.

it's the base of the Appalachian Trail and has some nice falls in it. Just north of the park in the national forrest are some great waterfall cascades.

The mountain area aroudn Ellijay is very nice also.

You can stop by Helen Georiga if you want the tourist feel of a Bavarian village.

what part does the Weasel play in the Monkey Weasel Productions?

She gives him an allowance. She allows him to live.

it's a favorite phrase of hers.

Actually, it's in the big book of rules... something to the effect of not being allowed to launch or land any aircraft within the state park. Model aircraft, could, technically fall under this rule.

Being a park ranger myself, I would rather not jeopardize my career over it.

I had planed to revisit some of the trail. Years ago I spent a week hiking through there.

Bavarian village sounds interesting.

Further northeast of Dalonagha is Rabun Gap. Beautiful places up there. Still a few miles north is a place called Highlands NC. Just outside of town is a bald rock outcropping several hundred yards wide and about a hundred deep. The name of the park is Sunset rock. Short walk from the main road or you can drive up to park. Bring a meal and make a day of it. You might be able to find a number of public airfields that you can launch from as well.
Good hunting!

you haven't been watching my videos :D

I can hand launch from an area the size of an average front yard, and land in it as well.

I will be adding your suggestions to the list that's under the "boss's" review.

thanks

The view from Sunset Rock. Plenty of room to land and take off again.
