I sat on the horse but he wouldn't let me ride today. I get to do that next week. I had to learn how to lead the horse, tie him off, brush him, bridle him, give him commands and exercise him in a round pin. It was fascinating to stand in the middle of the ring and hold the line while the horse galloped around me.

Horses are magnificent creatures.I have always wanted to ride one just never had the opportunity to.

I agree. They are magnificent. I am fortunate to have a friend willing to teach me and then take me riding. We have access to a 2000 acre farm with trails we will be riding on when I am ready. This guy is very meticulate (he reminds me of my OW instructor) and he is making me learn all about horses and the gear so that I will know what I am doing.

There is alot involved with horses especially the care of them. That is a good way to learn. That way you can be well rounded when it comes to riding and caring for them.

Yes, I didn't know he was going to make me learn how to take care of them because at this point I'm not planning on owning my own, but I can see now how knowing this will make me a better rider. I never knew how much it was to learn.

I didn't either until I met up with a coworker that own horses. I didn't know that if you feed a horse too much corn it could kill it,because it raises their dody temperature. Or that is what I was told anyway.

Get to know as much as you can. You didn't mention stable cleaning, so I am guessing that is the followon lesson. It has been a while since I have ridden and I don't mean riding the stable ponies.

God I hate posting. You English saddle guys will understand what I am talking about.

Me and the wife went over to the Naval Aviation museum today that was neat.We had never been. Next weekend if weather doesn't allow me to dive. We're probably going to visit the U.S.S Alabama.

I haven't been to the U.S.S. in years. It is alot of fun. It was pretty cold out today and windy. We had to cut my lesson short. If the day had been nicer, I might have gotten to ride a little bit in the circle pen.
