End of September last year. As I get older I find I have less and less desire to dive cold water. So I generally start diving the quarries in June and quit in September or October. Although I'm planning on Disney Divequest in December this year. I'll be doing a quick checkout dive in a local privately owned quarry this month. If Phil has my reg ready it'll be next saturday. If not then a later weekend this month. This quarry has two thermoclines this time of year and its cold so I won't use up one of my new HP 100's :loki3:

Heck... that quarry has 2 thermoclines even in the summer. The 2nd thermocline just moves deeper. If you go over in the 'hole' in the shady side on the south side where it hits about 60', you can definately feel it cold. (Luckily it's only the last 10 feet, so you can pretty much hover above it.)

I'm thinking I can go Saturday BTW...

I was wondering what happened to you. I sent you an invite and didn't hear back. Now that's mighty unusual.

multiple thermoclines... every quarry i've been in has multiple... in summer the local one has it right at 60' and it's so defined you can put your hands past the line and feel the difference.

Al that is truly sad. You have given torture a new name....:D

No not sad just prudent. I have well over 1000 lifetime dives and I don't feel the need to dive cold water anymore. Been there, Done that. Now if I have the opportunity to dive the St. Lawrence or Scapa Flow then I will feel the need again.

That is quite a feat to have that many dives. Maybe one day I will be able to say that. I think I have around 65 now. I have a ways to go, but I am looking forward to the challenge.:)

Didi they ever find where the new cold water was coming from? I had thought they said there was a possible new source for the cold water and they were going to close it up.
