Welcome to the board. Getting certified will be a big step but not too costly usaully. My program was only $145 for lessons, $35 books, $45 Equipment Rental and a boat trip for $100. That is not too expensive.

Now a word about caves. Florida has a bunch. Please note that until you are trained these are absolute death traps. They look simple, clean clear water, whats the problem? Then you turn around and discover you have been disturbing the silt and can't see a thiing or find your way out. Many have dived out of air, just feet from the exit.

So enjoy SCUBA, just remember to dive within the limits of your training. Don't worry it is not addictive. I only went 4 times last week.
