If divers are very protective of the oceans and reefs, why do they not feel the same for the english language?
This isn't a PC complaint, but we do have to put forth an example, the same as when we dive, don't mess it up. Feel free to vent

Snowbear:
So - You mean like this?....

:D
Just like that. ;)

This could be because not everyone in the world speaks the English language,

anyway the English language is not in danger from dinamite fishermen and is not dying out.

I dont spind as much time swimming in tha english language as the average ciberdyvers.

See this is the sort of thing that happens when a native English speaker spends too long in a foreign speaking environment. His English gets blasted away. ;)

Don't forget, when referring to an American's destruction of the English language, we don't speak English here. We speak American which is a dialect of English.

Example, in England, a rubber is used to erase the blackboard. Here is has a totally different meaning and looks quite different too. lol

I often see that I have to change spelling when changing countries and languages.

Have you noticed that MSWord has 19 different types of English listed in its "Select Language" section and 21 types of Spanish.

The fact that so many people here are highly computer dependent means that we are becoming more and more reliant on spell check, grammar check, and as the scuba board has neither of these, our typos show up more.

I have also noticed that I dont bother to remember phone numbers anymore. I dont have to most of the time, you just toggle through the contacts on the phone looking for the persons name. I think it is the signs of the technological age.

How many people on the board have noticed their handwriting change since the invention of the palm pilot??

Funny thing is, my Palm has a keyboard on it. I hate writing, period.

Handwriting???
I think apart from my signature & numbers, I don't write anything any more.
I can't even remember the last time I wrote a cheque. Just swipe the Credit Card through the reader.
