SuPrBuGmAn:Lots of interesting info on the discovery and general info on the ship can be found here http://www.gomr.mms.gov/homepg/lagniapp/shipwreck/Josephine Web.pdf
No GPS coordinates though.
oilman66:Yea, that's the same info I was already looking at, but thanks for the effort anyway.
Hopefully, I can find it and do a few dives on it before long...anybody interested in going?
SuPrBuGmAn:When and how much $$?
Charter? or do you have a boat?
More info please Wouldn't be much of a drive for me and it looks like a pretty fun dive - could also produce some dinner...
eanxgirl:I'm definitely interested. Please keep us posted with any other info you find out. Thanks.
oilman66:I have access to my nephews boat (mine is out of commission). It's an 18' flat, but should handle a 10 mile trip to Ship Island as long as there are no heavy seas ( I have a friend that has ridden a sea-doo out there). Also a 20' flat, extra wide/extra deep. There would be plenty of room for our gear and a handfull of divers. I wouldn't charge anything except to split the fuel cost and that wouldn't be but a few dollars.... but I have to find the wreck first!
paulwall:Its' MMS designation is 22HR843. The pics from underwater are classic. It's said to be well-known as a fishing site, so I'll bet that local fishermen,if given the right question, will be able to pinpoint it for you.
It seems to be designated a potential Historic site, so No artifacts should be removed (It is in MS territorial waters, near the Federal Boundary) http://www.gomr.mms.gov/homepg/whatsnew/papers/1998 ITM Archaeology Session.pdf
Visibility looks like a good 15 ft!
