Dolphin is great. Sorry about the zipper, Kathy - that's an expensive "whoops" .

Yeah I feel pretty stupid :shakehead:

This is what the alternative repair company said "There is no such thing as a dui zipper. They use zippers made by ykk. I use zippers made by an Israeli company called paskel. Yes I warrant...y the zip for a year"

Would you pay $400 and wait 2 weeks for DUI or just shell out $225 & get the suit back within a week & an isreali zipper?

Lots of people swear by this guy steve Gamble: Home

While DUI is more expensive, I will say they go over the suit thoroughly when you send it in for repair.
My old suit went to DUI for evaluation and a new zipper, they found a few seam leaks, repaired them, also replaced my APEKS valve for no charge on warranty.
how they test

DUI tested the suit 8 dives ago when they shortened the sleeves & added pockets.

My old suit was bought used as well. they treat all service items the same.

That being said, I can't argue with the cost of the zipper by steve gambel.
As I mentioned earlier Otter Bay does drysuit repairs, and they are a lot closer, worth contacting Cricket for an opinion.

I'd have to add that DUI goes well beyond the call of duty to repair or alter their suits. As I speak my suit was shipped out yesterday to San Diego, I'm having new sleeves placed onto the suit.

They have always been courteous over the phone with me and if they didn't have the answer, they would direct me to a person who did.

Because I purchased the SI tech dry glove locks, I gained a considerable length in my sleeves. I had already shortened the max I can go, 2 inches and was happy until the SI Tech rings pushed me back up.

Since I let them know I was beginning my training soon within the Tech world, via UTD classes next month, DUI personally said we will rush the suit back out to you.

They know that we spread word of mouth about their products and they want our business, especially since we are in bad economic times.

I know what Kathy is feeling because my suit leaked just a little in the neck when I blew up my suit on the surface for fun, and then shot back down. I felt the air run past my neck and next thing I feel is a small cold trickle that would intermitenly trickle throughtout the rest of the dive.

I didn't like the feeling of that cold water and now know what it is like to have water in the suit. I thought I had damaged my seal but other divers told me the seal lost it's properties once I rushed out the air, the seal might have inverted the other way.

I cannot wait to get back my suitl and have a perfect length on the arms with those rings, I finally got a measure on my arms, boy do I have short T-rex arms; 27 1/2 inches....

Ah but Mike you are their golden dog boy :D. Can you work some of your magic for me :D?Yes DUI was very good to me durring the last round of alterations.

They did say I could use the seals on this rental & pay an extra $100 for rush delivery. But that would be $500 for a zipper???!!

I love my suit & trust their work. And if cash & time were not an issue... but I'm a grad student & just can't afford it.
And two weeks+ without the suit? I'll have serious withdrawls & miss crucial training. Really, I need it back by next Tuesday at the latest.

Heard they promised you a few days turn-around time. What is that -the third alteration for free - shorten sleeves, swap out pockets and now new sleeves? Lucky guy--how do you do it? Guess it pays to be "DOG" of the week!
