Jelly Worm?

Anyone know what this is? Spotted in Cayo Guillermo, Cuba last week.

Seen fairly close to shore and they seem to "suck" themselves into the small holes in the sand as the tide goes out. This one was about 15"-18" long (atleast the visable part!) Also, they seem to be safe as a child picked one up with no problems.

Many tube worms will form a "cocoon" out of mucus to preserve water and keep themselves moist during low tide. That would be my best guess for this one. This sounds like it is right up Leslie's alley though
