Coral Reef Scuba & Travel Center will be having a PADI Project AWARE International Clean-Up day at Jefferson Reservoir on Sunday 9/16. The cost is very reasonable.

Is anyone planning on participating? I've signed up and am looking forward to at least one more local dive before it gets too cold.

More info: http://www.coralreefscubatravel.com

Jefferson Reservoir is north of the town of Jefferson, off of US-285 between Bailey and Fairplay.

See you there. I stopped in to get tanks and weight this morning. Randy mentioned that the vis should be around 15-20 feet. Water temp will be around 55 with only around a 1 degree change at 30 feet.

Yeah he told me that too when we were in on Wednesday - we're getting tanks tomorrow. Too bad our dry suits aren't in yet /cry.

So how was the clean up? I've never been to Jefferson. Where did you dive at the res? How was the vis and temp? Details, we want details :)

Cleanup was fun, although the weather was kind of sucky. We did the cleanup at the Jefferson Lake, starting by the boat ramp. Weather was about 55 outside with a drizzle, water temp was about 54. Vis was probably about 20 feet I'm guessing - better than at Aurora. :) It was nice to be able to look around and still see my buddy next to me when I looked back for him.

For all the fisherman out there, we didn't see any fish. :) Everybody came back with full bags of trash. We got a ton of lures/hooks, bottles, cans, even a rope (someone had tied a rope to a cinder block to use as an anchor, and it looks like the rope broke). Randy had hot chocolate and coffee waiting for us when we got out, as well as doughnuts, chips, pretzels, and some sort of crumb cake.

Even with 5 mm gloves on, when we got out (we did 2 dives for 20 minutes each, plus like a 20 minute surface interval I think), my hands were really cold - I had to wait a bit to break down my gear since my hands were so cold.

However, I had a lot of fun - seeing Tim again, and meeting a bunch of new people. :)

Thanks for the info. I am thinking of one more trip into the mountains before the snow starts flying, Jefferson might be the best bet.

If you decide to go, post it here. I would like to go too.

Let's plan a dive or three. After all, it's rare that I'm the closest to a dive site!

20 foot vis, I'm there! :D

I maybe able to do this weekend. Dan, you can call or PM me, and we can just setup a date, and post it if you like. I bet Frank would be interested but not this weekend as he is at the hole.

Me too, although I'm booked this weekend and next. The following is Columbus Day weekend - not sure if that's a holiday for anyone else. Would this be a day trip?
