January 2011 Oahu Trip

Hi ,

I have seen conflicting reviews on Oahu Dive shops. Can anyone provide feedback on the best dive shop? Our trip is scheduled from January 1-8 .

Reviewed Oahu dive center, Rainbow dive, Kamana dive, Oahu scuba diving tours.

We are aow with 100 + dives and are bringing our own equipment.

Isn't the north shore off limits in January?

@ chs8084..... yes. We primarily dive the South and West shores during winter months. But January can be an amazing time to dive Oahu with whales singing in the background!

Gary,

Rather than a dive shop, I recommend you consider hiring a guide like "scottitheduck," (Gabe) instead. If you do it early enough, you'll have complete flexibility in when and where you want to dive and what you want to see. He or she will make all the arrangements with the boat captains plus have your tanks filled and ready to go. All you do is show up and go diving.

That's what we did when we spent a few weeks on Oahu summer before last. Based on some strong reviews here on SB, I contacted Gabe a couple of months ahead of time and we quickly worked out a plan of action. He took us diving all over the island, and we had a great time.

And I made a friend in the process.
