Properly adjusted, I have not felt any squeeze. Prior to entering the water, I adjust the cumerbund so it is snug. Then buckle the waist & chest straps, leaving plenty of slack. Then pull the shoulder straps tight. Although I have only been as deep as 70' , I have not felt any squeeze with using 2 different BCs. Hope this helps

Hi,

I was using a jacket during my open water and really hated the feeling when I was on the surface bobbing around. It didn't help that I'm slim and the cummerbund kept pressing against my diaphragm because the jacket kept moving up on me. Man it was uncomfortable and it really made me want to throw up.

After my first dive with a bp... the rest is history.

A vest will squeeze if you over inflate it with the chest strap hooked. There's no reason to do either.

Unless you're overweighted too, then people would over-inflate their BC on the surface for bouyancy. This can make it difficult to breathe, and might possibly cause a panicked diver.

I had - early on when I was new... felt a squeeze... I dropped some weight, and found that I was just over-inflating.

if you're overweighted and/or out of trim, any bouyancy compensation device will be causing you problems. Not the devices fault...

Yeah... but you can't be squeezed with a back inflate, or a BP/W.

I dive a jacket BC... I was adding a point that hadn't been mentioned regarding Jacket BC's and squeeze, and how they can happen.. that's all.
