Excellent news! This will disrupt target quotas. It'll be interesting to see the spin in the spring when the whalers return back to home port.

I always found it interesting that folks can take the "law" into their own hands while out in the middle of the ocean, yet if I was run into by a drug dealer who was fleeing because I blocked the road with my car I could be liable for any and all damages to property around the incident. . .

What do you all think about the LRADS being aimed and used against the
helicopter? The helicopter does nothing but film. The pilot is a US serviceman.

Does the whaler ship know that the only purpose of the helicopter is to film, or are they going to start dropping stuff on the ship, a likely scenario judging by the previous actions of Sea Shepherd.

That's probably a career breaker for the military pilot

I got a laugh from one article where Watson claimed the Japanese whaler was attacking him.

correct but the question was does the ship KNOW the helicopter was just filming? and whom were they filming for? If the helicopter had a big logo or lifted off of the "attacking" vessel I would think there would be good reason to believe that the helicopter was up to no good.

Looks to me like the whalers were doing everything they could to defend themselves against what they percieved to be an attack. . . the use of the LRAD is a very smart thing for them.

FYI just to be clear I am not advocating whaling in any way just dont have sympothy for the seashepard or its crew.

While I doubt anyone here wants to see any whaling, The Sea Sheppard crew is for all good intentions is attacking the Japanese fleet. They have the right and the duty to defending themselves. I still stand that the best method for stopping it altogether is political and economic.

If other countries, like Indonesia, refused to open their ports to the whaling fleet and put political pressure on Japan, the cost of whaling would soon outstrip the profits.
