OK "newbie" ...... you do know that "BC" stands for "bouyancy compensator" and not "before Coors"........Since you just got carded then you can answer a couple of questions. Did you dive instructor explain and show you how to buddy breath or just tell you everybody is now required to have an octopus ? Did he tell you how important is to wear a snorkel while diving (it might save you life) or did he skip over that too. I'm an old time diver that many people ask how I survided with a doublehose, no air gague (had a J valve) and a co2 vest .......... I wonder how they will survive if they stop teaching the need for a snorkel and how to buddy breath with only one 2nd stage ...... WOW ..... this is a lot to answer on your 1st post ...... like they say in Jamaica "no problem" ..... just sit back at the computer desk and enjoy talking with some of the greatest guys (and gals) in the world about diving..... take care and have a good dive ...... dan
Oh god it's started... I only thank you for not using the hackneyed internet term n00b... ;)

As for the questions, [nerd elitism] I would never drink Coors [/nerd elitism] so I'll have no problem remembering that one... As for my instructor he was very thorough in every respect... He went over all the goodies in depth... He even threatened that if we strayed from our assigned buddies he would have us do what he makes the Jarheads do when they start to stray... God forbid we should have to hold hands underwater though, I can't imagine what that did to those Marines pride... I myself am quite amazed by how many people on here choose not to use a snorkel... I plan to upgrade from my PoS non-purge J-hook snorkel when I get a better cash flow (looking at one of those Impulse II's)... Not only was my instructor thorough but to make sure that I keep with my diving ambitions and habits he has been letting me borrow some of his gear in order to go diving with him... In fact tommorow morning right after I get off work (6am) we're hitting the beach... The only bad thing I have to say about my instructor is that he's leaving the Navy rather soon and when he finally gets out he is moving to Okinawa for 4 years and I won't be able to enjoy his company nor his wisdom...

cheers scubapro50 :beer_yum:
