Hey Arnaud- we can dive together as I start my "second" 1,000 (or is it my third or fourth?).

See you and Ken this weekend.

Awwwhhh Just saw this thread!
Congrats Dr. Bill! I am twisting the cap off a micro brew as I type. Am with ya in spirit!
One of these days, I'd love to make it out there....

My "35th" has been great... I procrastinated enough on SD and SB this morning not to get anything done on the editing of my scientific paper. Attended the funeral and skipped the reception so I could get in dive 999 and 1,000. First was a great midwater dive with the barracuda and schools of jack and chub mackerel. Second was largely focused on taping two nice octopi- the first a small little thing the size of the palm of my hand, the second a larger one deep in a cave (forcing me to slowly wedge in to get my shots).

May not make my curry since my housemate used up all my chicken boullion and didn't replace it. I doubt she'll be back in time to make it before I catch the movie.

For those coming out this weekend, I just realized I counted dive #685 which was my OOA emergency ascent. Since it was only 4 min. it doesn't meet the qualifications for a logged dive. I count it anyway since it was a learning experience. So my first dive Fri may actually be the official #1,000.

SueMermaid:
Pipedope, I took your advice and am now sitting at my desk wearing a mask and snorkel. (hey, I have to use the snorkel for something, since I paid like 40 bucks for it, right?)
My co-workers are finally leaving me the heck alone today and letting me concentrate. Thanks for the brilliant idea. :)

You really need to post a photo of that!!!

Wow. Didn't know there were barracuda in these waters.

By the way Bill, do you know of a depth contour map of the Casino dive park? Just curious.

Jim- not aware of a good bathymetric map. I created some very crude data for the entire coast down to 600 ft for a research project I did. However the data is not very accurate (but gave beautiful results in my paper!).

Happy ReBirthday!! OK I'm a day late but you know us "main landers". It was great seeing you the other weekend. I have new seals on the way so the DS will be back in action soon.
Still drying out...
Christopher

Good to see the two of you as well. No that I've finished editing both the scientific paper and this morning's video presentation, I can focus on the "real work" (as Gary Snyder calls it)... diving and video!!!
