Lobster season ends! The last two days were tougher than expected. Choppy seas yesterday afternoon, and down-right nasty today. Water was a balmy 77 deg. very comfortable in a 3 mm. wetsuit.

Didn't limit either day, but saw lots of shorts and several very-large egg bearing females.
Managed to put four more bugs in the freezer.

Well back to just sight seeing and looking for Hogs and after May 1 some grouper.

It got very rough down in South Florida yesterday afternoon. All our divers were reporting "pregnant" (egg laden) momma lobsters being found, as well as shorts. I gave up after 5 mommas in a row. Was a great season this year. We had a lot of fun gathering up the bugs.

Grouper season is closed for a while longer.
Bug season also.
Soooooooo............

I am no Marine Biologist but isn't it early for Losters to be carrying eggs? I personally have seen around five myself. It would seem they are about two months early in the mating season. Hopefully this is extra clutches and more lobster for later. Grow baby lobsters,.. Grow grow grow.

We have had a warmer than normal winter.. perhaps that is the reason. I know on land, things that don't bloom till April were blooming a month early... and the water has been rather warm..

I do believe that it is really a question of water temperature as to when the eggs show up.
I read some time ago that the eggs show up at seventy something degrees.
We got warm early so early eggers abound.

Ready for Mini-Season.
