Also, I enjoyed some of the wreck and reef dives. I'd skip the underwater park.

When I got there and was looking for things to do, someone suggested I go ask for so-and-so about being taken out to snorkel with whale sharks. I had no idea they did that from Isla Mujeres--I had thought I would need to go to Isla Holbox. I'm glad I did.
That's interesting, ten years ago I didn't think anyone knew commercially about the area north of Isla that is now known as the largest aggregation site of whale sharks on the planet, I would have thought ten years ago you would have ended up being boated over to Holbox which was still 'the' place to see them, but maybe you were right on the cusp of the whole change over, before it turned?
