Is this a good deal/choice for a set of doubles?

Well I just doubled up a set of 72s yesterday after coming across a good deal on a set of bands. I already had an extra manifold and had extra 72s around.

Time will tell if it's useful.

Great price for those tanks setup like that. Never heard of a shop not filling them. Also never heard of a failure of one of those. I have 4 2400 rated PSI 72s that I fill 32% Nitrox to 3000 PSI with my personnel compressor for 30 years about 250 tanks a year.

Did you use 7" bands or 7.25"?

Standard manifold with 8.5" spacing?

I found some 6.9" Highland bands with standard spacing on eBay. They're rare.

I'm not so worried about the bands as I am the spacing for the manifold.

Put the tanks together and cut a small piece of plastic or wood, Put the spacer in the middle of the tanks to keep the tanks from moving together when tightening the bands. You can put the straps under the top bands before tightening them. Or better yet just get the largest single tank and put a little extra air in it. Those doubles are a pain to drag around out of the water and also in the water.

My bands came from piranha, but I see that the price has really gone up. I seem to remember paying about $225 for both the set of bands and a blue steel manifold.

With the current popularity of sidemount, I would think there's a lot of used bands/manifolds around for sale.
