So I am in the market for my first regulator, and if I had my wish, I'd get an Oceanic Delta / FDX10. Those run ~$350.

BUT, LP has a GT3 / CDX5 for $199.

From what I've read, the GT3 is a pretty decent regulator. So the question is, why is the GT3 so cheap? Is there something I don't know about the LP offer - is it missing something that I'll have to buy later?

thanks,
dave.

My daughter and another buddy have that setup. It has been trouble free for us. Daughter said it was easy breathing at 85ft on her AOW class.

Give LP a call,it might be a typo. It's just dirt cheap for a rocksollid reg.

Hi guys,

It's not a typo, just a great deal on a very nice regulator.
The CDX5 first stage is a great performer with a very nice layout to it and the GT3 second stage is a great, breathes easy and is diver adjustable as well. I'd dive with it in a heartbeat.
Here's a link: GT3 CDX5

That's an awesome price for an awesome regulator. I do believe that several people on this board dive the CDX5 first stage on doubles setups. I had one of these regs in Hawaii with an Alpha 8 octo two years ago and it performed flawlessly. This would be an excellent reg that will grow with you as your diving career progresses.

dstrout,
When oceanic introduced the dvt version of the CDX5 Gt3 more than 2 years ago, they sold out the non-dvt version to dealers at ~$125. There were great deals by authorized dealers all over the net. I paid $170 for the one I had. I believe that the one LP has for $199 is the non-dvt version, but considering that there have been a few issues with the dvt, it is probably preferable.

EDIt: I just looked at the LP website, and the $199.95 price is for the dvt model. That is a killer price for someone who wants the dvt feature.

Both my wife and I have the GT3/CDX5 combo and it is a wonderful setup. (The only thing I would want different would be the DVT on the first stage.) I liked the GT3 so much, I purchased it for my octo as well. The adjustment range is amazing... one of the reasons I bought one for my safe second was because my other octo would freeflow upon hitting the water all the time. With the GT3, I adjusted it so that doesn't happen, yet it is still comfortable (with a little extra effort) to breathe from even at that setting.

This is the first regulator I've owned that I could adjust, and I find I especially like that I can make adjustments during the dive, depending on depth... it's almost an unconscious effort.

My wife and I purchaed 2 GT3's from LP two years ago. I love this rig as it has been trouble free with annual service. I only wish I had the swivel on the second stage like the Delta IV. Jump on this deal.

My friend got one from LP, she loves it, no issues what so every.

I use the GT3 and really like it. Sounds like a good deal.
