Hello I will be on South Padre Island the end of July and was hoping I might find some place to dive while I'm down there. Any one been down there and done any diving? I would be happy to find some shore diving if nothing else. Oh, this will be my first time in the ocean. Where I usually dive I have vis around 1-6 ft, and usually only until my students hit the bottom, then it's a silt storm .

Not sure if there's shorediving on South Padre - it is a beach area after all, but someone I know recommended these people for a trip a couple years ago:

The Texas Underwater Park - some old oil rigs and a couple of ships - is a 1/2 day trip from South Padre.

I think the vis will be quite a bit better...
