Is red color BCD more visible to the sharks?

Sharks don't really rely on seeing you to find you. They know where you are well before they can see you, and when they do see you, the color of your BCD isn't going to make a difference one way or another.

Pete (NetDoc) beat me to it. Red quickly becomes "dark" as you go deeper (and not very deep in our waters). That's why many nocturnal fish are red in color.

In my experience I have seen yellow attract sharks more often than other colors, but I'm talking about the fins. It may not be the color at all, just the brighter more reflective nature of yellow and the fact that feet in yellow fins may appear to be detached from the body in a black wetsuit.

I've never given too much thought to what color I wear... as long as it is black! Besides, sharks are such a tiny factor when it comes to safety underwater. I've had hundreds and hundreds of them pass close by me without so much as a threatening look. Of course, if you've seen me in person, you know I don't look very appetizing!

Got that right. I've got it on good authority that fewer than 30% of all divers ever get attacked by sharks, and of those, even fewer result in fatalities!

Color do attack sharks....I saw it on TV, but I think the test was with yellow though. Let me know if you get eaten though, so that we can update this thread...
