Is it wise for me to dive?

I don't see a reason not to dive. But, after your dental work, if you have stitches I would wait for them to heal completely. There is a chance that air could get under the stich and get traped inthere while at depth, when you surface the traped air will expand and could cause pain, and the chance to suture would rip. Other wise I don't think there is any problem.
 
I have had 6 teeth extracted. And have 10 crowns/caps ( hockey is my other favorite sport besides diving ) Have never had any problems. I would think you would want to possibly stay out of the water if you have an active infection or still have stitches in.
