For what it is worth.

I have been around on this board for awhile. I don't feel a seperate forum is needed or necessary. If someone wants to discuss DIR then they can start a thread in Basic Scuba Discussion or wherever they choose. Personally I am not DIR, don't plan on being DIR.

As mentioned earlier, people who are on this board do not bother to even search the archives for topics previously discussed that they are now interested in.

Leave things the way they are.

Peace!!

ho hum, once again I can't vote! My vote would be for a DIR forum in the Tek section but probably not for the reasons some of you would expect!

It's there, it exists and like it or not it is part of diving.

Only time will tell whether it ends up like football (the one the rest of the world plays) or American Football......

I'm getting this weird mental image of hordes of divers all clad in black shorties....

Bloody Victorians, I say your damned lucky that Power and the Crows couldnt get it together this year, An S.A. grand final would have been GREAT!!!! (by the way, I just won $200 in my tipping!!)

I brought it up AGAIN because I wanted new opinions and new thoughts. Repeated?... Yes. Rehashed? Yes... New information?.... YES

'Carn the Magpies!!!!!

Thanks all for your responses.
I still reckon a DIR forum would clean up the threads a little.

And as mentioned maybe a NON DIR forum would be a better idea, I had not thought of that, where recreational divers can post questions without the fear of being inundated with DIR this and DIR that

To change the name of SCUBA BOARD to DIR BOARD and any response to any question, no matter how legitimate, that doesn't include "DIR" would be excluded.

I've done a dive or two in the 35 years since I was certified, and I honestly get tired of how people, trying to learn this sport / pass time get dumped on because they don't think or do something in some specific way.

I do not think DIR is bad, nor do I think it is the only way, but some of the DIR storm troopers don't seem to be able to accept that their answer is not universally accepted without question.

It would be interesting to have a heading under each section that did not allow GUE intervention. ie the post would be removed by regulators

How about a "No Strokes Allowed" disclaimer also? :D

and counterproductive to learning.

Folks you have a front row seat to the next stage of the evolution of diving. It's very much like what happened when BCs first began to appear, same with octopi.

DIR is the future of diving, first of tech diving, eventually of all diving. You may as well quit fighting it and be assimilated.

Tongue-in-cheek, sorta. I really believe this is what's occurring. Hide and watch.

Tom

Yeah, but I heard if I go DIR, I can't drink beer anymore. That excludes me. :D

Listen, BP/Wings and all the other stuff may be great. I don't know, I admit I haven't tried it. But George or whatever his name is has got some things to learn about marketing. The guy must be an incredible ego maniac. First, this whole term Doing it Right is arrogant as hell, and everyone knows that. Secondly, he has his girlfriend snap photos of him in his tight little swimsuit striking Charles Atlas type photos, and posts them up on the web. When I saw that I LMAO.
