I don't think all members are referred to as the "Mob"

Just the ones pitching a hissy fit

see that's the problem. Someone who is 'easily offended' (moderator or requesting member) deletes a post that shouldn't have been deleted. That's what causes the hissy fit most of the time.

So those of us who ask questions as to why are considered "pitching a hissy" HMMM

Interesting how some members feel. . .

Interesting that us lowly members are sometimes referred to as the 'mob'.
Well, it has improved. When I first took over ScubaBoard you were often referred to as "The Inmates". I am not sure if that was a reference to a penal or mental colony, but we cut that out rather quickly. for the most part you are currently collectively referred to as "users", "user base", "members", ScubaBoardians, contributors etc. Sometimes, in jest, there is a vague reference to "mob" or MOF mentality. You might be interested to know that Mods are not allowed to flame you behind your backs. We don't allow abuse in absentia (except for maybe Andy) in the back rooms. This is a distinct change from when Andy was back there, though he saw the beginnings of that change take root.

As for other changes, we take your suggestions quite seriously. We may not always agree with them in the long run, but we do consider them. In fact, we are working on a system that will allow mods to "claim" the reported posts much in the same way they claim a problem thread now. Quite often the reported posts that see some action will get a reply from the mod who responds. But there is no mechanism that allows us to tell a person that "no", we disagree and we will not be touching a particular post. Currently, there could be 18 mods telling the person their perception is off and then one person agrees and does something about it. vBulletin has a patch that seems to address this for us, so thanks for making the suggestion.

I don't like being called a "member" it can be construed as a male body part therefore an insult.I feel this is derogatory and therefore think "contributor" is a better term .
.

Ok.. based on the above post and the term referenced above as a 'member', makes you wonder what those were thinking who became 'supporting members'. ? :rofl3:

It's a private board, if they delete something or ban someone it's their perogative. I don't think they owe us a much of an explanation. It's not a democracy, It's a NetDoc-racy!! To me this whole thread is one big giant whine. I think the staff here is very fair and do the best they can.

Does that mean we can't ask questions? we can't ask how or why something is done?
