Wait a minute...

So you can't take a bit of gentle ribbing? Really? This was obviously written with tongue firmly planted in cheek and as a dare. My proclivity to show a sense of humor (albeit a rather twisted one) has even been shared within this thread.

So perhaps we can learn a valuable lesson about PERSPECTIVES here. What was meant in fun isn't always fun for those on the receiving end. Something to think about for a bit.

Really, has there been any indication that we were not listening in this thread? Have there been no indications that we will be discussing some of your suggestions?

Many of our perceptions about motive and such are false. No one in this thread is guiltless when it comes to assigning erroneous motives to another person (on line or even off). The mods try not to take an "us vs them" attitude when it comes to users, but sometimes the unfair criticisms create that dichotomy among us.

But really, this was written with humor and shared in much the same way.

i think it says it all, Pete

i'm sorry you can't see that

that was a horrible mistake to post that (for you) but it does make everything clear (for us)

the entire attitude this whole thread has been about is crystalized by the amusement in that note

oh those members.... how amusing they are...

EastEndDiver:
I don't like being called a "member" it can be construed as a male body part therefore an insult.I feel this is derogatory and therefore think "contributor" is a better term .

oops... sorry... contributors...

oh those contributors ... how amusing they are

howarde:
It sounded to me like it went more like this...

The "mob" asked about how a friend got banned so quickly without warning. It progressed to suggesting that warnings be more clear in the future, so people don't confuse advice with a warning...(teenager whine perhaps - this is sweet - just what we were talking about)

Then the discussion moved away from bans in general, and attempted to focus on the fact that there is a general secrecy about how things are moderated, and it would be nice if there was a bit more open communication (RE: threads being closed and deleted) -

Although several people confused the request for more open conversation to be about banning, which is more of a private matter, and shouldn't be discussed, unless the banned party wishes to speak about it.

This request for more communication - was also confused by some to be a paranoid, the sky is falling, there are thought police in my head, I need a tin foil hat to keep them out... but it was really attempting to focus on customer service (thanks to Andy).

I could be way wrong, Andy, but I believe Howarde has the best explaination/synapsis of it all right here.

i think he *is* right, dead on

i think the "synopsis" is a kick in the teeth for those of us who try hard to make ScubaBoard a better place

hey, that's +3 for my post quota!!

Seriously, that synapsis is as striaght forward to real honest addressable issues as it gets.

Dude.. you weren't told, your quota is 27 per day.

Well, I apologise for kicking you in the teeth Andy, that was not my intent. I also apologise to anyone else who might feel offended... that too was not my intent.

well, the kicking in the teeth part was a bit of hypebole ... i mean... with your heft ... if you kicked me in the teeth...

:eyebrow:

for the record, my post quota is 30 per day, which i seldom meet. i suppose this is where one writes one's grand manifesto ... and hurls insults and accusations left and right ... but that's not how the world will end. it will end not with a bang, but with a whimper.

i got a cost-of-living increase of 3, for a total of 30

OK OK OK ................Just kidding.

Political correctness at it's best.

That is just doo damn funny.... and a perfect example of how some people here could get too easily offended about a post.

NetDoc:
Andy is filling his post quota and walking both sides of the track (pro and contra).

He's a lawyer and that's just what lawyers do. Expect to be getting a bill from him. Most lawyers bill in 12 minute or 20 minute intervals, so you'll get billed at least 12 minutes per post until he meets his quota. Get your wallet ready :)

But one or the other interesting bit has come to light.....it just gets smothered by all the useless posts
.

Actually the whole board is starting to be smotherred this way....

Are you a tin foil hat man, or a metal colander guy? :D
