I kept turning to MDB and asking, please, really, this isn't him doing this, is it?

she'ld respond, well, that's the same guy that is in the pictures he claims is him.

it's normal to feel envy and admiration towards those of us gifted with the musical gene ... that's ok, you'll never be like us, but you can let us make your life meaningful

i think MDB may be looking at my pics for another reason, if you know what i mean ... i've been told i look like Elvis (on a good day)

thank you ....

thank you very much...

ladies and gentlemen, H2Elvis has left the building

I just HAVE to share this with you...

One of our mods recently came back from Holiday and asked for a synopsis of a particular thread. Another mod gave us a brilliant distillation of what was happening, so an Advisor asked her to do a synopsis of THIS thread. With her permission, I am posting her response:

That one is a bit tougher.....

After the banning the mob wanted clarity but are fogging it up themselves.

They didn't want to be treated like children even though everything they say is like a teenagers whine.

They don't want to be restricted but want more rules.

They want a two way street, where there is only room for one.

Complaining as long as anyone will listen.

Andy is filling his post quota and walking both sides of the track (pro and contra)

But one or the other interesting bit has come to light.....it just gets smothered by all the useless posts

oh, before I forget....there are people out there that are afraid to post because of the general attitude.

I am just taken back by the insight here! No, I won't tell who wrote it, as that was one of the conditions when I was given permission to share it.

the "mob"

wow ... real mature guys ... the "mob" ..... who happens to see the ads you guys sell for a profit...

the mob, huh?

very respectful towards the members. i can see why we get along so well.

jeez... post quota? seriously?

as to "both sides of the track," it's not my fault some people can't understand how complex this issue is. it's not black and white. sorry if seeing the greys is walking both sides of the track.

clearly our suggestions up here (made, i may add, in good faith) are seen as nothing but vignettes for the amusement of the staff

and i'll say one last thing on this subject: i will never defend the actions of a ScubaBoard staff member again. ever.

it's even worse than i thought

this says it all about the kind of mentality you guys keep saying you don't have, and i keep saying you don't have

i guess i was wrong

although, as always, it is good to know the truth about these things, even if it is possible only under the cover of anonimity

anyway ... i'll go fill my post quota somewhere else for a while (though i think i recognize MB's wit, not sure about that)

It sounded to me like it went more like this...

The "mob" asked about how a friend got banned so quickly without warning. It progressed to suggesting that warnings be more clear in the future, so people don't confuse advice with a warning...(teenager whine perhaps - this is sweet - just what we were talking about)

Then the discussion moved away from bans in general, and attempted to focus on the fact that there is a general secrecy about how things are moderated, and it would be nice if there was a bit more open communication (RE: threads being closed and deleted) -

Although several people confused the request for more open conversation to be about banning, which is more of a private matter, and shouldn't be discussed, unless the banned party wishes to speak about it.

This request for more communication - was also confused by some to be a paranoid, the sky is falling, there are thought police in my head, I need a tin foil hat to keep them out... but it was really attempting to focus on customer service (thanks to Andy).

I don't like being called a "member" it can be construed as a male body part therefore an insult.I feel this is derogatory and therefore think "contributor" is a better term .

OK OK OK ................Just kidding.

Political correctness at it's best.

Cheers Howard and Andy I could not have said it any better!!
