H2Andy:
you misunderstand me

i think it's a shame that you have been made to feel that way, not that you feel that way

that's not what ScubaBoard is all about ... no one should be made to feel uneasy about asking questions in the open forums

It bothers me too, when I see people rush to post things like "do a search first"

I think of it as the "high beam syndrome" there's always some people out there, that just hope someone is driving with thier highbeams on, so they can flash them with thiers.

maybe it was said to them, and there they sit, reading the threads, waiting for thier chance to say it to some new member.

sad, really it is

Hey Art,

we really are trying to reign Andy in, but the meds keep wearing off! :D

In reality, it's posts like this that really make me cringe. We are here to ENABLE communication and so often others want to hijack a thread for their own enjoyment. It's one thing to crack a joke or two (sorry Mike), but some do it just to belittle others. The "Report Bad Post" button is an excellent way to make us aware of these egregious posts.

Andy's not a problem. Just a little obsessive. And loves a good argument. I actually enjoy his posts. But we have an attorney in the family too. So I am familiar with the illness. <SIGH>I reckon every family has a cross or two to bear. :D

And since I was married once, I understand the advantages of conflict avoidance. So rather than create unnecessary turbulance, I try to ignore those individuals that get an ego lift by belittling others.

The other advantage is (don't tell Miss) is that if you PM her with tears trickling down your cheeks, she puts your head down on her chest, pats your back, and tells you eveything is going to be better. :D

I'll probably get smoked for trying to hijack a thread (with every mod in world watching) but Miss, are you sure people are PMing you because they are leery of the mods, or are they afraid that segment of the users that I think of as the Pirahna Patrol going into a feeding frenzy?

Even though I've been on Scubaboard for a while now, I am reluctant to ask public questions because of the caustic answers that are a real possiblity. I worry a whole lot less about the mods than I do the psychos.

I get a little of both. Mostly users that don't want to be thrown to the dogs, if you will. This is my intepretation. For some reason people say "you seem so nice and helpful", go figure ;) I agree with Andy and Doc, it is terribly sad people feel that way. It just goes to show your perception to the public is critical.

BTW, hi Art :)

Hey, you let my secret out :winky:

Actually, I think this thread is a little unfair as seems to be about the SB Moderators. As far as I can tell the real complaint is actually about (some of) the Advisers. There is a difference. You don't often see Mods getting themselves in the sort of problems that some Advisers are actually quite good at doing.

Don't worry Desert Diver, you are not the only one. I have gotten email, some people are too paranoid to even send PMs, about certain threads where people were afraid to post but wanted to let me know they agreed with me.

there was no "little" amount of pain there :D

well, i believe in making OTHERS suffer for MY art
