Well, in hindsight, it looks like we stubbornly refused to believe just how expensive it actually is to get a decent system, even a modest one. And we didn't want to accept that we really didn't have the money yet, and didn't want to go into that much debt. But we wanted the camera now! At least I did. I think the camera is OK, but it's not what Soakedlontra needs, at least not combined with the housing that does not give access to the rear wheel control. Maybe the thing to do is try to sell the Ikelite housing and get an FIX, I dunno. I haven't yet had time to return the Fantasea lights, so until that plays out I'm going to reserve judgement.

It sure sucks, though, spending $1000.00 and still being disappointed in the quality.

If we had waited and saved, we'd probably only just now be getting the Inon strobe and FIX housing. We've had our system since the Tacoma dive show in, what? March? May? So there's that much practice and experience to add to the mix.

Impatience is expensive. You'd think I'd learn by now. Well, that's not really accurate. I knew we were getting a compromise system, but I thought it would at least work! Let's see what we say when the stuff comes back from Fantasea and Ikelite.

I am sure Ikelite will work with you guys, they have a reputation for doing so and have been in this business an awful long time. I bet if you ask them nice they will work with you to set things right, just my guess.

It is a shame Ikelite did not see fit to develop a better housing for the S90/S95 cameras, the generic box thing just does not work for me at that price range. I see that Fantasea has a cool new plastic form fitting housing for the Nikon P7000, to bad they don't make a similar housing for the G11 or S90 cameras or that Ikelite does not offer something similar that is designed for the camera and compliments it's full function. Maybe someday.

I really hope that Ikelite and Fantasea receive enough complains that would force them to re-design the housing and strobe/focus lights! That would be the only way to change things...

HD yes, but only 720p. Also look at the Nikon P7000, which many people rate ahead of the Canon.

The G12 doesn't appeal to me any more than the G11 did. Foolishly I sold my G10 but now I've bought another one, used.

I have just called Canon and asked the customer service guy if the G12 had the rotating control dial that I hate so much...unfortunately it does!:shakehead: So I took the opportunity to complain about it!:D

I am not an expert, but 720p seems to be the standard for point and shoot cameras that shoot video clips!

I have been looking at the Panasonic Lumix too:

DMC-LX5 | PRODUCTS | LUMIX | Digital Camera | Panasonic Global

but I don't know how good is underwater or if there is even a housing for it at all!
