Hello:

I have a Matheson psi gauge that reads fronm 0-200psi. It came from a lab bottle and works fine. It has 1/2" threads on the bottom. Anyone know how I might adapt it for use as an IP gauge and save $60? Thanks.

Drop by your local hardware store and pick up a couple of adapters, I used one for an air compressor with a relief valve. Screw in the b/c adapter for an air chuck and you will have a simple IP guage.

The relief valve is optional as pressure can be bled through the second stage.

Well, I got the gauge down to a 1/4 male but realized the 1st stage is metric ;-0
Duh...
Probably wont find a 1/4" to a metric adaptor....

As long as the first stage can accomodate a low pressure inflator hose with a standard inflator fitting, you can get a 1/4NPT to standard inflator adaptor. Your LDS probably has one and if they don't they can order it.

Then you just plug the IP gauge into the low pressure inflator hose just like any power inflator.

Simplest thing is to use a BC QR fitting, as others have suggested. But what kind of reg is yours that it's got metric LP port threads?

There's some drawings for IP gauges at

that might be helpful

Great post. Thanks for that one.
I love learning this stuff.
:D

Oh yes. I have an Aqualung Titan. I assume the threads are metric because the spring screw on the bottom is 8mm hex nut.
I need to recheck my titan service manual though...if I do find an adaptor and measure from the 1st stage is this accurate or does psi change on its way down the LP hose??
