I think it is great that you bought an IP gauge and started using it.... by doing so, you diagnosed a problem with your reg, and probably "saved" a dive trip. You were able to determine that it was time for service on your reg well before it REALLY got bad and started "behaving badly" (freeflow).

...the older Atomics had a defective 1st-stage piston.....which can be cured with a Jetseat upgrade kit.....I had an IP creep problem with my 'old' B1, which I 'upgraded' during a scheduled servicing one year a while back, which fixed the problem. I don't know if your reg is old enough to have been impacted by this problem......the easy way to tell if it's been upgraded is examine the 1st-stage end cap....the new Atomics have an almost completely closed rubber end cap...the older Atomics have a large open end cap where you can see a large area of chrome exposed at the center of the end cap area.
