I wouldn’t want to be a patient or tending someone convulsing while wearing a mouth-mask. Besides, comms is really bad compared to a FFM. IWR isn’t a trivial matter and saving $300 over a FFM isn't much if you plan to do it right... with comms, umbilical, etc.

You're basically talking about expedition dives to be that far from a chamber AND responsible for IWR prep. A liveabaord operating that far from a barrel should have an IWR kit onboard and the crew to manage it.
For the traveling solo/ad hoc sport recreational technical diver (i.e. non-commercial, non-military) who doesn't utilize a FFM in general, the minimum personal IWR kit should be a Mouth Mask that can be fitted to a open circuit 2nd stage.

If you're talking about an organized dedicated sport technical charter on expedition, that operation should have an onboard multiplace recompression chamber with auxiliary lock AND an attending Hyperbaric Physician, along with a back-up IWR contingency and the crew to manage it.

DISCLAIMER:THIS IS NOT A SUGGESTION OR PLAN , SIMPLY A REPORT
Up to a nearly paralyzed diver who needed the reg held in place we have had success descending immediately when symptoms appear.

We carry at least one T of 02 per trip.

60' for 5 to 20 minutes and up to 5 minutes every 10 feet ascent. This has worked quite a few times, one exception was a guy who after several tries quit diving for the trip.Later diagnosed with a PFO and returned to light recreational diving.

Again, not recommended as a method of IWR.
