Are we talking about getting together for a charter, or for a beach dive?

I think the title of this thread let's you know my feelings. :D

The Delray Wreck is in Delray, not Boynton.
Woops! Oh well :bonk:....you know...they're all......down south.

Don't matter to me. It's right after exams, so I could stand to blow a little money to offset the heartache :D.

"official" scubaboard trip ?
excuse to get wet on a weekend ?

yup.. i would love to come too, probably give Dr. Jay a ride in my luxurious car with broken A/C :D

we did a charter out of WPB weekend 1.5 weeks ago. Rampage, $45 without tank & equipment.. got some videos btw :-)

so you guys outside Florida can check it out how it looks like in here:

stuff

the videos are divix4 encoded so you may need to install this:

to view it.

(they are on my old college server.. i wonder how come i still have account there even though i've graduated quite a long while ago :D

and a little montage of frames from it:

Okay, so let's do a charter. Lot's of suggestions. I used Coral Island the last time out and they were great also. I'll defer to your Floridians that are on these boats the most.

How does Saturday morning the 26th look for everyone??

I normally use this site to look up charters:

Florida Scuba Diving Directory

There's a whole slew of charters in that area. They actually line up at the Riviera Beach Marina, as I'm sure they do at others.

If it's a big group, you'll probably wan't to make reservations early. Plus they'll need to arrange for tanks and such for peeps that don't have them. The only two charters I've dove with in that area are the Rampage and Starfish Charters of Boynton.

This sounds like a great get together in the makings!
I'm quiet here on the board, but I promise I don't bite!

For charters, my vote would be for a little further south--Boynton/Delray. I find the depth of the ledges much more fun, but of course, all options are open!

Walter--we'll miss you! PROMISE you'll do lunch/dinner? Detroitdiver, you wouldn't mind another "poodle jacket" diver, would you?

Krista,

Assuming I won't miss class to make dinner, I'll be there. Fortunately, it's a small class and there should be some flexibility. Besides, the instructor likes to meet people and he likes to eat.

Hey, I'm in the minority here!

You're more than welcome to join us.

I think we should let Sandy make the final call on where/when if that's okay with her and everyone else.

That okay with you, Sandy?

Me? Gulp! OK but give me some input.

I love diving in both the Palm Beach area and the Boca/Delray area. Things I like about both areas…West Palm has more of what I consider “drift” diving. I don’t know if it is because the current is stronger here or what but it definitely requires less effort. Like Krista, I also love the different reef terrain down south. I have seen more interesting stuff down south, more color, etc.

Given that info, here are four of the more popular charters (mentioned on ScubaBoard) that I have done a little leg work on (tank prices are for air not Nitrox-I’ll get that later):

The Rampage
2-tank morning dive (boat is out of Riviera Beach)
$45 w/o tanks $60 w/tanks
I haven’t spoken with them yet (www.diverampage.com)

Coral Island Charters
2-tank morning dive (boat is downtown West Palm Beach)
$48 w/o tanks $68 w/tanks & weights
Their morning dive already has 10 people scheduled. They don’t want to carry more than 20 people. (www.coralislandcharters.com)

Splashdown Divers
2-tank morning dive (boat is in Boynton Beach)
$50 w/o tanks & tanks are 2 for $20
Their morning dive is open at the moment (www.splashdowndivers.com)

Diversity
2-tank morning dive (boat is in Boca Raton)
Haven’t spoken with them yet. Generally $45 w/out tanks
(www.thediversity.com)

If anyone has suggestions on other dive ops to checkout I’ll be more than happy to do so.

I just spoke to Pura Vida Divers in WPB. They were highly recommended by someone from another scuba board.

2 tank dive $50.00 w/o tank.
$58.00 w/ tanks

They only take 12 divers on their boat and they are wide open at this time.
