My formal introduction
Dude here. Wyoming native, survived 8 years in the Marine Corps. Listening to Johnny Cash, the "Last Gunfighter Ballad" and drinking with my friend Sam Adams. Other interests are target shooting, Masters Swimming (in Carlsbad), horseback riding (quarter horses by god!), reading (Neil Stephenson right now).
I'm a sysadmin for a local company that specializes in ritual killings. I also do what I can to wipe out Microsoft and show people the way.

In other words, you're an ex-jarhead with no taste in music who has since become a computer nerd and rides horses that are worth about as much as their name ($.25).

:D

Glad to see you here Bax... now hurry up & get certified so you can dive with me! Tell Bob to get off of his big butt and do those OW checkouts NOW! Hopefully no La Jolla lifeguard will need to come "save" you again when you're in the surf zone :crafty:

Easy, hot woman. Folks, Missy is a Morgan owner who once she came to the ugly realization that her gaited horses were only good for perusing the cotton fields she grew up on and no real work, became the grouchy Morgan owner we all know and love today. Reposting my intro:

There is a gun to my head right now
and I am being forced to join and post on this site. A forum member; a certain she-devil is making me do this.
I'm a former Marine, now a network admin, getting ready to start diving out here. Looking to learn, have fun, and buy some cheap used gear Hobbies include ballroom dancing, exploiting the oppressed, and regime changes.
Looking forward to meeting people and diving.

I might add that I cruised though the PADI classes (both written and practical application in 2 nights but I am still awaiting my rescheduled OW dives)

You forgot my Tennessee Walking Horse... (and they're "meese" :moose: )
You're just jealous because your fat plugs are good for nothing besides chasing cows... :D
Sucks that you have to wait an additional week for your OW checkouts .....

I prefer Linux (Suse 9.3 Pro) on the desktop, OpenBSD at the firewall (most secure OS around and an easy firewall to setup), Suse, Redhat, or CentOS on the server. For people looking to ditch Microsoft, I recommend either a new Mac or Suse 9.3.
At the corporate level, I see everyday how much IT support and $$$ Microsoft requires. If you have a Microsoft Exchange email server, you need a paid-for license for everybody using it; Windows or not. If you're also sharing files off of said server, you need a seperate paid-for license for each user accessing it. Not to mention security vulnerabilities, spyware, antivirus, instability, etc.... I moved my execs and sales guys to Macs and haven't seen the darned things since. They just work. Pretty cool when you have a non-computer-literate person that hasn't rebooted their laptop for 70 days.

It's like Darth Vader. "Give into your hatred. Feel the power of the Dark Side." I can feel the hatred but I know I'm Luke Skywalker :D

Won't be at the Wrinkles dive because god hates me and he told my instructors to screw me over. Congrats on the Mac. Be warned, it's a boring computer because it will just sit there and work. Now add FireFox and plenty of RAM and enjoy it. PM me if you have any Mac questions.

And here's the Grinch with her plow horse. Great lines, Soft mane, strong legs and is admired by all at the stables. Bunny isn't bad looking either. :07:
